Q: How Will Americans Celebrate Thanksgiving?

As the number of new COVID-19 cases surge across the United States, the holiday season is just around the corner—the time of year people often spend celebrating with friends and family.

In our November 6-9 survey, we asked respondents how they plan on celebrating Thanksgiving this year. More than half (54%) plan on celebrating at home with members of their household only. Only 2% of respondents plan on traveling outside their home state to celebrate with friends and family.

Beyond limiting guests at Thanksgiving celebrations, survey results reveal that a majority of respondents do not intend on following the recommended CDC guidelines at their celebration this year. When asked which guidelines they would follow, 56% of respondents said “none of the above.” Furthermore, Republicans are more likely to indicate “none of the above” (70%) compared to Democrats (49%) and Independents (55%).
