A: More would get the vaccine, but concerns remain.
With recent positive news about several COVID-19 vaccine trials, America is anxious to know when one will be ready.
As a follow up to our October 16 post, we asked respondents if they would be willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine. In October, 43% of respondents said they would get a COVID-19 vaccine today, if one became available (“strongly agree” or “agree”). In our latest poll, more than half (53%) of respondents would be willing to get a vaccine – an increase of 10%.
Our latest results show greater confidence in the FDA and their approval process. Specifically, 49% of respondents are confident the FDA “will only approve a COVID-19 vaccine if it is safe” compared to 35% of respondents who said the same in October.
Last month, more than three quarters (77%) of respondents were concerned about the safety of a vaccine when one becomes available. A slightly smaller majority of respondents (64%) worry about the safety of a vaccine if one is “approved quickly” (“strongly agree” or “agree”).

Results based on surveys of 232 respondents from November 13, 2020 through November 16, 2020. All surveys were conducted online from respondents in the United States.
