Q: Which Organizations Do Americans Believe Have Made an Impact on Public Health?

A: People believe that the CDC continues to have a positive impact on public health.

As a follow-up to our September 28 post, we continued to ask respondents which organizations they believe have made the greatest impact on public health.

Approximately 65% of respondents believe the Trump Administration has had a "significant negative impact" or "mild negative impact".

These views have been relatively consistent over the last six months. Attitudes related to the Trump Administration’s impact on public health declined to its lowest point in August and remains near its all-time low.

However, there is disparity based on party affiliation. For example, 58% of Republicans believe the Trump Administration has had a positive impact on public health (“mild” or “significant”), while 10% of Independents and 3% Democrats and share that view.

Regardless of political affiliation, more than half of respondents (58%) believe the CDC has had a positive impact on public health (“mild” or “significant”). Furthermore, among all organizations asked about in these surveys, respondents generally believe the CDC has had the greatest positive impact.
